Do my email passwords leave my computer?

No. Mailriva is a native desktop app for Windows and macOS. Your login credentials are used exclusively locally on your device for the direct IMAP connection to your provider. They are never sent to our servers.

Will my old mailbox be changed or deleted during migration?

Accepted Answer

No. Mailriva accesses your source mailbox strictly in 'Read-Only' mode. Emails are only copied. Nothing is deleted, moved, or marked as read in your old account.

Can I migrate emails from any provider?

Accepted Answer

Mailriva supports almost all email providers worldwide, as long as they offer the IMAP protocol (e.g., Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo, iCloud). The exception is providers that strictly block IMAP, such as Tuta (Tutanota).

Do I need to recreate my folders manually in the new mailbox?

Accepted Answer

No. Mailriva reads your existing folder structure (including subfolders or Gmail labels) entirely and recreates it fully automatically in your new destination mailbox.

I just want to create a local backup, not migrate. Is that possible?

Accepted Answer

Yes, that is one of the main purposes of the app. You can select your mailbox as the source and simply specify a local folder on your hard drive as the destination instead of another provider.

What happens if my internet connection drops during the transfer?

Accepted Answer

Mailriva is built to be robust. If your internet cuts out or the provider drops the connection, the app remembers its progress. You can simply restart the process, and Mailriva will resume where it left off without creating duplicates.

Question 7

Are calendars and contacts transferred as well?

Accepted Answer

No. Mailriva is 100% specialized in processing massive email volumes and large file attachments flawlessly. It is best to export your contacts manually as a vCard/CSV from your webmail.

Question 8

Why is my login failing for Gmail, Yahoo, or iCloud?

Accepted Answer

Gmail, Yahoo, and iCloud do not accept your regular password for third-party apps. You need to create an 'App Password' in your account's security settings and use that in Mailriva. For Gmail and Outlook, a browser-based sign-in (OAuth2) is coming soon. Providers like GMX, WEB.DE, or T-Online work with your regular password.
